Reimagining Universal Pictures Classics for 2024
Project Overview
As part of the Executive Connect cohort, I collaborated with two fellow interns to analyze Universal Pictures’ film library and identify three films that we believed were strong candidates for adaptation in 2024. My primary role focused on developing innovative marketing strategies and creative concepts to bring these films to a modern audience.

My Contributions:

-
Conducted research on social media trends, cultural relevance, and genre popularity to determine which films would resonate today.
-
Developed creative marketing campaigns tailored to each film, incorporating social media promotions, brand partnerships, and interactive pop-up experiences.
-
Explored how to engage audiences by integrating immersive marketing techniques inspired by successful industry campaigns.

Research & Strategic Approach:

During my time interning with Focus Features this past summer, working on marketing initiatives for films like Didi, Nosferatu and The Bikeriders, gave me a firsthand look on how strategic marketing and creative storytelling can engage audiences, build cultural relevance, and elevate a brand’s presence. I actively researched social media trends and analyzed how other studios promoted their films and shows. These campaigns thrived because they offered fans a chance to engage with the content in interactive and meaningful ways- a key factor in today’s entertainment landscape. With Gen Z and modern audiences increasingly seeking immersive experiences, I applied this insight to craft marketing strategies that turned passive viewers into active participants in the story.

Final Execution:

-
Created a detailed pitch presentation outlining the marketing rollout, audience engagement strategies, and creative promotional ideas for all 3 films.
-
Presented our ideas to Universal Executives, receiving positive feedback on the strategic and creative approach.

Demonstrating Filmmaking & Creativity:

Even though this was a marketing-focused project, I leveraged my filmmaking and storytelling background to enhance the creative execution of the campaign. By developing experiential and digital marketing tactics, I merged storytelling and strategy to create compelling marketing ideas.
